Sustainable Home Designer Bend
Rick Wright earned his degree in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley in 1977. After graduation he worked with a local Bay Area design and build architecture firm, where he gained valuable experience drafting and then constructing the jobs he’d drawn. This down to earth approach has influenced his design career for more than 35 years.
In 1979, Rick and his wife, Chris, moved to Bend. The next year they built their own home, welcomed the first of their three children and started Wright Design Studio.
Rick has been an active member of the Bend community since the early eighties. He is an avid whitewater river enthusiast. He kayaks, canoes and volunteers as Board President for the Deschutes Watershed Council. He has mentored for an Oregon State University residential design class for many years, and has volunteered in Bend schools.
A typical Central Oregon resident, Rick enjoys being outside as much as possible. When not on the river, he fills his leisure time snowboarding, hiking, bird watching, camping and adventure traveling with his family. Rick’s indoor time has been spent earning his 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
